As of August 2026, updated tariffs are being applied in Türkiye for mandatory motor third-party liability insurance — MTPL.

The insurance premium depends on several factors, including the type of vehicle, its registration region and the driver's claims history.

Basic rates for passenger cars have been revised in line with current economic conditions. Drivers with a claim-free history may continue to benefit from more favourable insurance terms.

Driving without valid mandatory insurance can also have serious consequences. The fine for driving without compulsory insurance can be 1,246 TL. In addition, the vehicle may be towed, while further costs may arise due to delays or other violations.

Drivers are advised to check the validity of their insurance policy before travelling and make sure that the coverage meets the legal requirements in Türkiye.

We monitor regulatory changes in Türkiye and share important updates affecting vehicle owners.
